Aspurūs, a seven-bioactive standardized shatavari extract supplied by Waleria, was shown in a recent clinical study of 150 perimenopausal women to support vasomotor, psychological, cognitive, and physical symptoms of menopause as early as two weeks. The findings of the 12-week, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study were published in The Journal of Dietary Supplements.

While most perimenopause studies focus on the frequency of symptom improvement, such as the number of hot flashes, this study design also took symptom intensity into account using a validated questionnaire to provide a more complete picture.

Other validated scales were used to yield data on hot flashes, sexual health, and physical stamina. Symptoms like brain fog, fatigue, stress, joint pain, and more were assessed, providing broad clinical insights compared to most perimenopause studies.

Compared to placebo, women receiving Aspurūs experienced significant improvements across several perimenopausal symptoms during the 12-week intervention. Improvements were observed in hot flashes (-76.7%) and fatigue (-74.6%), along with brain fog (-44.9%), stress (-51.7%), mood (-51.1%), sexual health (-60%), sleep (-45.1%) and overall quality of life (-51.1%) assessment scores. The extract was well tolerated throughout the study, with no serious adverse events reported.

“Perimenopause is a highly individual experience, and women rarely experience the same journey,” said Komal Baldwa, founder of Waleria Healthtech. “We elevated the study design to evaluate both the frequency and intensity of symptoms across multiple domains, reflecting the experience of modern perimenopausal women.”
